A Heart for Community
We believe that one of the greatest needs of humanity is relationships. We believe that God expects us to eliminate barriers between rich and poor, this race and that race, young and the old. We believe that God has a special place in his heart for those who are outsiders, those who are in need, and those who face injustices. We believe that Jesus’ core teachings show us that lip service is meaningless and that we must get out and do. We believe that we learn by helping others, being involved, being aware, and loving.A Quest for Eternity
We believe in eternity. Because of that, we spread purpose and hope, and people need both. We believe that God reaches different people in different ways, and that Christian life can only be fully expressed in a faith community. We believe that God wants every person to become a Christian and every Christian to grow to be like Jesus. We believe that, when dealing with eternal issues, people must be free to share their thoughts and we must always be open to questioning. Our eyes are on eternity as we hope for more.Who Are We?
Everyone comes from somewhere. Some of us at The Well come from the Churches of Christ. Our legal name is "Chapel Hill Church of Christ", and The Well is supported by the Cole Mill Road Church of Christ in Durham and the Harpeth Hills Church of Christ in Franklin, TN. The Churches of Christ are part of the Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement, which started as a movement wanting to simply be Christian, without complicated denominational structures or creeds.
Where you come from says a lot about you, but it doesn't say everything. While we share a commitment to the values of our tradition, we also seek to express our faith in new ways - in our relationships with each other and in service to our community - and to maintain an attitude which embraces the challenge of exploring how contemporary issues force us to (re)define our faith anew for today.
